Michael Rustin is a founding editor of Soundings, with Stuart Hall and Doreen Massey. He has been at the University of East London since 1964, and has for many years been a Visiting Professor at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust, and he is a member of its Governing Council. He is a Trustee of the Stuart Hall Foundation and of the Amiel-Melburn Trust.
He is the author of many books, which include The Good Society and the Inner World,Reason and Unreason and Researching the Unconscious; and, with Margaret Rustin, Reading Klein,and Narratives of Love and Loss. He is co-editor (with David Armstrong) of Social Defences against Anxiety and (with Gavin Poynter), Building a Radical University;and editor of Robin Murray: Selected Writings.
